About the position

The Production Manager for Video Services at Johnson County Community College (JCCC) is responsible for overseeing the production operations of the Video Services department. This role involves managing project coordination, ensuring delivery standards and workflow, and providing technical coordination. The manager will lead a team, facilitate training, and maintain quality across all production outputs while collaborating with various stakeholders to meet project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, onboard, train, and manage the production staff.
  • Provide oversight and communicate expectations to the team.
  • Ensure the production team has access to resources to achieve their responsibilities and complete performance appraisals.
  • Facilitate opportunities for technical training and professional development for production staff.
  • Coordinate projects, define the scope, and manage all phases of production with clients and internal staff.
  • Ensure quality of products, services, and workflows.
  • Write and enforce procedures to maintain standards across the production team.
  • Provide direction on style, tone, and polish for each project.
  • Maintain client relations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee delivery standards and project workflow.
  • Establish media management, cataloging, and archiving procedures.
  • Manage captioning workflow and project assignments with the caption provider.
  • Coordinate last-minute technical requests involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Respond after hours to equipment failures and assist in coordinating the engineering team.
  • Brainstorm and implement creative solutions to client needs and technical problems.
  • Work with the engineering team to identify department needs and recommend equipment for purchase.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of related experience in production management.
  • First-level leadership experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in educational video production.
  • Familiarity with accessibility compliance in media production.
  • Knowledge of video editing software and production equipment.
