About the position

The Production Manager at Sims-Lohman is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations at the manufacturing facility in North Canton, OH. This role requires a proven leader who can meet safety, production, and financial goals while fostering a team-oriented environment focused on customer satisfaction. The Production Manager will provide overall leadership, manage staff, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the safe operation of the fabricating operation within the location.
  • Provide day-to-day overall leadership and management to the team members.
  • Create the daily job schedule.
  • Assign team members daily work schedules and assign jobs.
  • Monitor the completion of the daily schedule and support creation of reports to track completed jobs.
  • Provide technical expertise to direct reports on safe installation methods and techniques, as well as craftsman advice.
  • Communicate with customers and their clientele as needed to resolve problems, which may involve traveling to job sites.
  • Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff, taking corrective action as necessary in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ensure compliance with current federal, state, and local regulations, consulting with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, while monitoring scrap and rework data.
  • Direct and coordinate various programs essential to operations procedures, such as training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, and worker involvement.
  • Partner with the Sales team to ensure outstanding customer service and meet installation goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales and administration) to ensure success.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.
  • Support the attainment of department and company-wide goals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Secondary education in business or construction management preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process-oriented operation and/or related industry.
  • Building material industry and/or manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of modern production scheduling, lean manufacturing, and safe workplace requirements strongly preferred.
