About the position

The Production Manager at Closets By Design is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production plant, ensuring that high-quality custom home organizing systems are produced efficiently and cost-effectively. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage employees, enforce quality and safety standards, and interact with sales staff to meet customer needs. The Production Manager will also be involved in scheduling, inventory management, and problem resolution to enhance the company's financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the plant's daily operations and employees
  • Scheduling production and installation schedules to meet deadlines
  • Understanding company product lines, equipment & machinery, assembly standards, and installation techniques
  • Enforcing quality assurance standards
  • Enforcing safety standards
  • Interacting with sales staff to review designs, as defined by owner
  • Maintaining factory equipment and company vehicles
  • Producing daily cut-lists
  • Forecasting production requirements and maintaining necessary inventory levels
  • Purchasing, tracking and receiving of all purchased materials
  • Problem resolution and customer service with clients

Requirements

  • Prior management and supervisory experience (3-5 years), with hiring responsibilities
  • Experience in woodworking or cabinet making fields (32mm systems a plus)
  • Experience with woodworking equipment, such as CNC, sliding table saw and edgebander
  • Excellent problem solving skills, able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Quality and safety conscious
  • Ability to drive bottom line results while maintaining service orientation
  • Computer proficiency
