About the position

The Production Manager at ALPLA is responsible for ensuring a smooth, safe, and efficient production operation. This role involves maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity on the production floor, overseeing daily production activities, and managing the production department. The Production Manager will also be involved in recruiting, training, and evaluating staff, as well as analyzing production data to optimize operations and address any issues that arise.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a smooth, safe, and efficient production operation.
• Maintain highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity on the production floor.
• Oversee daily production and support engineers to ensure machines run efficiently.
• Maximize profits and develop production schedules.
• Plan, direct, and assign duties of manufacturing personnel.
• Authorize overtime as necessary to meet production goals.
• Analyze and interpret daily production data and prepare management reports.
• Intervene on the production floor in real-time when issues are detected.
• Prepare production figures for daily meetings and compile month-end reports.
• Troubleshoot and solve production problems, managing issues effectively.
• Conduct regular meetings with Supervisors and recruit new employees with HR.
• Ensure efficient shift hand-over and feedback of past shift performance.
• Prepare shift schedules and perform disciplinary actions as needed.
• Oversee all production training and provide continuous feedback to team members.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations and monthly meetings with the OPEX team.
• Assess training needs of staff and ensure execution of training on equipment, products, processes, and IT/MES systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred, or a minimum 2-year degree (Associates) in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3 to 5 years' experience in a management position in production, preferably within the plastics industry.
• Technical/Engineering background with a thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership skills and technical understanding of manufacturing and IT.

Nice-to-haves
