About the position

We are seeking a full-time Production Manager II to join our client's team at a meat processing facility in Monmouth County, NJ. This assistant management level position is integral to our production department, where raw materials are ordered, received, stored, assembled, prepared, processed, cooked, and chilled. The role involves both physically-intensive hands-on work and office work, including computer tasks and paperwork. As the "right hand" to the Primary Production Manager, the Production Manager II will run production alongside and in the absence of the Primary Production Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production is scheduled efficiently to meet customer needs and adhere to food safety regulations (USDA, FDA, internal policies).
  • Maintain necessary records for traceability and food safety.
  • Work independently and within a team to complete various stages of processing.
  • Oversee all stages of the production cycle, from management to receiving, cooking, and chilling.
  • Schedule and manage daily production tasks, including grinding, mixing, chopping, stuffing, cooking, and chilling.
  • Ensure production and inventory are accurately recorded in the ERP system; complete computer production reports via ERP and Excel.
  • Manage paperwork and records for quality control, sanitation, safety, and maintenance.
  • Track and manage raw materials inventory; determine needs and coordinate ordering with office staff.
  • Manage procedures to ensure Critical Control Points (CCPs) are met.
  • Ensure proper Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed and maintain sanitary conditions of machinery and environment.
  • Operate machinery used for processing raw materials.
  • Sort and inspect raw materials for quality control.
  • Measure and weigh raw materials for batches.
  • Load cooking racks with raw products for cooking.
  • Participate in the cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and spaces.
  • Receive and load/unload trucks using a forklift.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Production Manager or executive management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in production management, preferably in perishable food processing (meat industry preferred).
  • HACCP certified and/or PCQI certification.
  • Confident with basic math (multiplication, addition, subtraction).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, climb, squat, reach, pull, push, and lift items weighing up to 50 lbs for long periods.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift/Pallet Jack Certification (training provided).
  • OSHA trained/certified.
  • Possession of a boiler license is a strong consideration.
