About the position

The Production Manager at Beacon Collision of Akron is responsible for overseeing the repair workflow in a large auto body shop. This role requires a strong background in body shop operations and focuses on ensuring that vehicle repairs are completed accurately and on time, while maintaining high-quality standards. The Production Manager will supervise production staff, assign work, and foster a team environment to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assign repair work to technicians and supervise workflow to complete vehicle repairs within specific target dates.
• Provide daily supervision and direction to all production staff members.
• Ensure that all repairs are completed correctly and accurately the first time, on time, in adherence with industry and company quality standards.
• Dispatch work assignments to production personnel according to their skill levels.
• Meet with each technician daily to discuss work assignments and schedules, creating a plan of accountability and time-driven completions for each stage of production.
• Ensure information is always current and accurate in the management system.
• Monitor work quality and provide day-to-day feedback and coaching to technician staff, creating a team environment for both body and paint.
• Train, counsel, motivate, and monitor performance of Production Coordinator(s), as necessary.
• Engage in occasional physical activities such as reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting objects over 50lbs.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience in a production management role.
• Forklift operation experience.
• Knowledge of assembly processes.
• Experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong production planning skills.
• Mechanical knowledge relevant to auto body repair.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
• Prior experience in auto body repair.
