The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall production operations at Alltech's Springfield manufacturing plant, focusing on achieving safety, quality, service, and productivity standards. This role involves providing strong leadership to the production team and managing systems, equipment, personnel, and materials in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Production Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager and will typically supervise 3-4 direct reports, including shift or section supervisors, and manage a workforce of around 80 direct and temporary contract employees. In this position, the Production Manager will promote a safety culture, ensuring that every employee returns home safely each day. This includes working closely with regional safety coordinators to maintain current safety policies and conducting incident investigations for any near misses or injuries. The role also requires strict adherence to safety protocols and compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards. The Production Manager will be responsible for effective communication with all production associates and will oversee the development and administration of managerial training programs. This includes evaluating performance, setting goals, and implementing development plans for direct reports. The manager will also supervise a team of production supervisors and operators to ensure that manufacturing processes are efficient and within budget. In terms of production oversight, the manager will handle the day-to-day operations of various production systems, monitor production metrics, and assist in developing production schedules to meet customer demands. Quality assurance is another critical aspect of the role, ensuring that all products meet company standards and regulatory requirements through routine quality control checks. The Production Manager will also focus on process improvement by identifying opportunities for targeted enhancements and implementing best practices and lean manufacturing principles. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate production records and preparing departmental reports to drive value within the business.
