About the position

Join Meyer Natural Foods as a Production Manager to lead production, ensure quality and safety, and drive excellence in collaboration with our copacker partners! This is a hands-on full-time position performing day-to-day duties, including oversight of production and quality assurance on the floor. The Director of Operations will ensure accurate product specifications, food safety, and quality by performing the following duties in conjunction with copacker partners, as needed and determined by leadership. Meyer Natural Foods began as a pursuit of the founder Bob Meyer's passion on a pristine Montana Angus cattle ranch, aiming to produce the best-tasting beef by practicing the highest standards of ranching. Today, Meyer Natural Foods has broadened its expertise in the natural protein category by expanding the product portfolio to include beef, pork, and turkey. Privately held and wholly owned for more than 25 years, over 16,500 retail locations and food distributors feature Meyer Natural Foods' premium products across the United States, Canada, and Asia. In this role, you will oversee weekly productions at various processing partners, ensuring product specifications are achieved. You will conduct weekly reviews of production yield reports and communicate specific performances. Additionally, you will communicate with the scheduling team to ensure customer orders are filled and make necessary adjustments as production details become available. You will also handle customer complaints and claims, facilitating corrective actions to prevent future issues. Furthermore, you will provide weekly summary reports to processing partners and ensure that food safety and monitoring program implementation meets corporate and regulatory standards. This includes overseeing compliance with national and international standards and legislation, conducting plant audits, and ensuring follow-up on identified issues. You will also conduct inspections of processes and employee training to ensure compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee weekly productions at various processing partners as needed (mostly in Fort Morgan).
  • Ensure product specifications are achieved.
  • Conduct weekly review of production yield reports and communicate specific performances.
  • Communicate with the scheduling team to ensure customer orders are filled and communicate needed adjustments as production details are available.
  • Facilitate communication with processing partners regarding customer complaints/claims and implement corrective actions to prevent future issues.
  • Coordinate with accounting on claims and credits associated with production deviations, providing tracking and visibility throughout the business.
  • Provide weekly summary reports to processing partners who visit for feedback.
  • Ensure food safety and monitoring program implementation meets corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee and monitor program implementation (i.e., HACCP, USDA).
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation, considering environmental and health/safety standards.
  • Conduct plant audits as scheduled and ensure follow-up to identified issues.
  • Conduct inspections of processes and employee training to ensure compliance with applicable food laws and regulations and GMPs.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School education is required.
  • 7+ years of related experience as a Production Superintendent is required.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience is required.
  • Prior plant experience is highly required.
  • A strong understanding of operations and quality assurance is required.
  • Beef, Pork, and other protein industry experience is strongly required.
  • Understanding of SSOP, GMPs and HACCP CCP as required in protein environment is necessary.
  • Ability to support copacker and vendor relationships is necessary.
  • Advanced analytical skills are required, such as the ability to multitask.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks is required.
