About the position

Tuff Shed is seeking an experienced and motivated Production Manager to join our manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes and offers significant opportunities for professional growth. As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the Production Foreman and the production team, ensuring that all operations run efficiently and safely. You will engage in various manual tasks associated with the Store's Operations, including loading trucks, fabricating buildings, and operating forklifts. Your role will also involve overseeing the daily planning and scheduling of labor and materials for the Operations team, ensuring that all resources are utilized effectively. In partnership with Store management, you will be responsible for recruiting for key positions such as Production Foreman, Delivery/Warranty, and Pre-Fabricator. You will ensure that all tools and equipment are secured, inventoried, and maintained according to Tuff Shed's safety requirements. Additionally, you will oversee the allocation and inventory of fasteners and hardware, ensuring that all materials are available for production needs. Customer service is also a part of your responsibilities, as you may need to resolve warranty issues and perform necessary repairs at job sites to satisfy customer needs. You will conduct periodic inspections of completed buildings, providing feedback to subcontractors and the Operations team regarding job performance, safety, and quality concerns. Alongside the Assistant or Operations Manager, you will perform production safety training and participate in national safety conference calls. Your role will also include conducting work-related injury investigations and assisting with performance management, career development, and disciplinary actions for production team members. You will be expected to resolve work problems among Store production employees while keeping the General Manager informed of all final decisions. Additionally, you will assist the GM with monthly cycle counts and ongoing inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Production Foreman and production employees.
  • Perform various manual tasks associated with the Store's Operations function, including loading trucks and fabricating buildings.
  • Oversee daily planning and scheduling of the Operations team's labor and materials.
  • Partner with Store management to recruit for Production Foreman, Delivery/Warranty, and Pre-Fabricator vacancies.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are secured, inventoried, and maintained according to safety requirements.
  • Oversee fastener and hardware allocation and inventory.
  • Occasionally perform customer service duties, including resolving warranty issues and performing necessary repairs at job sites.
  • Inspect completed buildings periodically and provide feedback to subcontractors and Operations team employees on job performance, safety, and quality concerns.
  • Conduct production safety training and participate in national safety conference calls.
  • Perform work-related injury investigations and follow up as directed by the General Manager.
  • Assist with performance management, career development, and disciplinary actions for production team members.
  • Resolve work problems among Store production employees and keep the GM informed of final decisions.
  • Assist the GM in performing monthly cycle counts and ongoing inventory management.

Requirements

  • Hands-on computer skills in Microsoft Office and Internet applications required.
  • Experience in utilizing Customer Relations Management (CRM) software, including Oracle, JDE, Onyx, Salesforce.com, Goldmine, or similar systems is highly preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment.
  • Ability to use arithmetic, mathematical, accounting, and financial tools as they apply to Tuff Shed business.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand instructions given orally, in writing, and/or in diagram form.
  • Ability to prepare written correspondence and reports that create a professional image for Tuff Shed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the public.
  • Hands-on experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume retail or operations environment with an organization recognized for quality products and service.
  • Minimum of two years of construction or manufacturing experience.
  • Significant experience in safety management.
  • Experience supervising employees and resolving employee relations issues.
