The Production Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and Director to lead and direct production initiatives aimed at establishing a world-class manufacturing operation. This role involves the overall development and coordination of plant assembly and mill operations, as well as production processes to optimize the use of resources and equipment in meeting or exceeding established plant goals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of cultivating and developing talent within an organizational setting, with a minimum of 8 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in woodworking, and at least 8 years of supervisory experience across multiple departments. The Production Manager will be responsible for improving equipment uptime, capability, and reliability through the facilitation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives and the Strategic Equipment Excellence (SEE) program. The role also includes continuous evaluation of plant processes to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction, planning and coordinating departmental activities to support SQDC targets, and leading Kaizen events. The manager will develop standard operating procedures related to materials, equipment, and processes, participate in hiring and training processes, and provide team leadership consistent with the company's vision and mission. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to interpret technical instructions, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead production initiatives to establish a world-class manufacturing operation.
  • Coordinate communication between assigned departments and shifts.
  • Improve equipment uptime, capability, and reliability through TPM initiatives and the AWC SEE program.
  • Continuously evaluate plant processes to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Plan and coordinate departmental activities to support SQDC targets and meet client expectations.
  • Lead and facilitate Kaizen events and participate in assigned teams and projects.
  • Develop documented standard operating procedures for materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Participate in identifying hiring needs and employee selection and training processes.
  • Provide communication on departmental expectations and motivate team members.
  • Establish individual goals for team members in alignment with organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in woodworking.
  • Minimum of 8 years of supervisory experience across multiple departments.
  • Experience in wood drying, machining, cabinet component manufacturing, material flows, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and process analysis.
  • Lean manufacturing experience is required; Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Excellent personal computer skills in a network environment, preferably with Microsoft products.
  • Proven track record of successful project management.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
