About the position

As the Production Manager at H.B. Fuller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the production operations within our manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for organizing and managing a team of up to 20 operators, ensuring that productivity levels are maintained while adhering to safety standards and compliance with company procedures. Your leadership will be vital in fostering a motivated and efficient production team, driving operational excellence, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. In this fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be involved in various functions, including leading the production team to meet production plans and standards. You will ensure that all production activities comply with established procedures and work orders, proposing changes when necessary to enhance efficiency. Your role will also involve participating in projects aimed at improving manufacturing processes and product quality, maximizing resource utilization, and reducing operating times and costs. Safety will be a top priority in your position, as you will be responsible for making employees aware of health and safety issues, encouraging adherence to safety rules, and reducing workplace accidents. Additionally, you will coordinate maintenance activities and respond to technical inquiries from customers, ensuring compliance with Quality and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies. Flexibility in your approach will be essential, as you may be required to undertake other tasks as needed to support the team and the overall production goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, oversee and motivate the production team to maintain a good level of work and productivity.
  • Ensure that production is made in accordance with production plans, procedures, and standards, proposing changes whenever appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and all work orders established and must deliver the planning.
  • Participate in projects related to production.
  • Maximize the use of available resources, reduce operating times, increase productivity, reduce costs through operational excellence/continuous improvement, and decrease the number of quality nonconformities.
  • Make employees aware of health and safety issues at work, aiming to reduce accidents by ensuring and encouraging adherence to safety and housekeeping rules and standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Respond to technical questions from customers.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality & HSE policies and with the procedures set out in the Internal Policies.
  • Remain flexible in approach and be prepared to undertake other tasks as and when required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or related Engineering.
  • 3+ years' experience in a supervisory role, managing others in a multi-shift operation.
  • Ability to drive and implement safety initiatives.
  • Green Belt and experience implementing Continuous Improvement / Lean initiatives.
  • Project Management experience.
  • PLC experience.
  • Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SAP.
  • Chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Black Belt.
  • Rockwell PLC experience.
