About the position

The Production Manager at The Neil Jones Food Company is responsible for overseeing production operations during the tomato fresh pack season at the San Benito Foods plant in Hollister, CA. This role involves managing cannery operations, ensuring efficient production processes, and supporting maintenance and operations departments during the off-season to prepare for the upcoming season. The position emphasizes optimizing safety, food quality, and productivity while maintaining cost-effective operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee production functions for assigned shift during the fresh pack season.
• Manage cannery operations including receiving/bulk dump operations, hot breaks and finishing, peeling/sorting/dicing, evaporation, and put away.
• Coordinate with functional managers to meet operational needs.
• May manage plant operations in the absence of the Plant Manager or other managers during the fresh pack season.
• Maintain and execute systems and processes to ensure production meets output and delivery schedules.
• Ensure efficient operations with a focus on employee safety, food safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Business, Production Operations, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6 years of demonstrated food manufacturing experience with supervisory roles of increasing responsibility.
• Experience in tomato processing, including peeling and evaporation processing systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel and Word.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check, and work extended schedules and weekends during the fresh pack season.
