About the position

The Production Manager at BASF Corporation is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Wyandotte Dispersions & Resins plant, ensuring safety and efficiency in production activities. This role involves developing the production team and enhancing system capabilities to achieve high levels of reliability and effectiveness. The manager will lead by example, prioritize health and safety, and foster a culture of continuous improvement while aligning operational priorities with customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership for the production team with a high level of presence in the plant.
  • Set the example for integrity and priorities, utilizing Mindset & Behaviors tools to drive team behaviors.
  • Align production roles and responsibilities, ensuring accountability among production coordinators and team leaders.
  • Set high standards for Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and hold the team accountable for performance.
  • Perform safety contacts and process hazard inspections, ensuring visibility and accountability in safety practices.
  • Lead the site's Exposure Reduction Process implementation within the operation.
  • Communicate with supply chain and commercial teams regarding plant issues impacting customers.
  • Support quality improvement projects and manage non-conformance to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Create a culture of Continuous Improvement, seeking cost reduction without compromising safety or reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10 years of hands-on experience in complex plant operations and optimization.
  • 5 or more years in supervisory or management positions with proven leadership ability.
  • Demonstrated team orientation towards leadership and commitment to the company's success.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies related to Wyandotte Dispersions & Resins (to be developed).
  • OpEx orientation, including Lean Six Sigma approach to continuous improvement.
  • Strong commitment to Process Safety excellence and knowledge of EHS standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of OSHA PSM/EPA/MIOSHA/DEQ regulations and requirements.
