About the position

The Production Manager at L'Alliance New York plays a crucial role in the planning and execution of all production-related events and operations. This position is integral to ensuring that the organization’s diverse programming runs smoothly and effectively. The Production Manager will be responsible for managing a crew and collaborating with performers, clients, and various department heads in a calm and professional manner. This role requires direct interaction with multiple internal departments, including Programming, Events and Rentals, Development, Marketing, Language Center, Operations, and the Executive Office. Each of these departments produces various events throughout the year, necessitating specific production needs that the Production Manager must address. In this role, the Production Manager will act as the primary point of contact for all production-related events and operations. This includes interfacing with other departments to assess production-related needs and budgets, creating budget forecasts for upcoming programming events, and delegating tasks to the Associate Production Manager. The Production Manager will also collaborate with technical staff to troubleshoot advance work and support programming initiatives. Scheduling technicians for all events and operations is a key responsibility, as is contacting vendors for rental equipment needs and creating a lasting network of vendors. The Production Manager will supervise load-in, run-of-show, and load-out operations, ensuring that all technical staff maintain the necessary technical equipment. Additionally, this role involves maintaining a crew calendar, approving payroll, and responding to building requests related to live event technology, such as A/V needs for monthly team meetings, board meetings, and gallery installations. Keeping accurate and concise records of all events and participating in weekly meetings with Events and Rentals, Programming, and Operations are also essential duties. The Production Manager will maintain a stock of all theatrical expendables, ensuring that the organization is well-equipped for its various productions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all production related events and operations.

  • Delegate tasks to Associate Production Manager and collaborate with technical staff as needed to troubleshoot advance work and support the programming.
  • Schedule technicians for all events and operations as needed.
  • Contact vendors for rental equipment needs and create a lasting network of vendors.
  • Supervise load-in, run-of-show and load-out operations.
  • Oversee technical staff in the maintenance of all technical equipment.
  • Maintain crew calendar and approve payroll.
  • Respond to building requests as they relate to live event technology, e.g., A/V needs for monthly Team Meetings, Board Meetings and Gallery installations.
  • Keep accurate and concise records of all events.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Events and Rentals, Programming and Operations.
  • Maintain a stock of all theatrical expendables (Gaff tape, lamps, tie line, first aid, etc).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Production / Technical Management required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 360, Google Suite, and some familiarity with drafting programs and other media-based software.
  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 required.
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends depending on the production schedule.
  • Must have the ability to be a team player and a strong leader.
  • Must be dedicated to creating a safe, respectful work environment for the staff, clients and artists.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $65,000 - $80,000
  • Hybrid work model (1 day remote)
  • Non-exempt full-time salary with benefits
