About the position

Reed College seeks a Production Manager to provide leadership, organization, and communication to effectively manage the logistics necessary for delivering a variety of successful Dance and Theater productions. The Dance and Theater departments produce between 12-14 shows annually, each varying in scale and complexity. This role is crucial in ensuring that all productions are executed smoothly and efficiently, meeting the artistic vision while adhering to budgetary and scheduling constraints. The Production Manager will be responsible for creating and managing production calendars for all theater and dance productions, coordinating specific plans and goals for each production, and supervising production staff as assigned. Collaboration is key, as the Production Manager will work closely with faculty, staff, and contracted designers and technical crews to ensure that all technical elements of each production are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position also involves scheduling, planning, and running production meetings, as well as attending and facilitating all technical and dress rehearsals. In addition to logistical management, the Production Manager will coordinate with multiple internal and external partners to ensure that space, equipment needs, ticketing, house management, scheduling, and procedures are all met. The role includes creating, documenting, and implementing best practices for student production work, teaching students in a staff-taught Stagecraft course with a focus on stage management and production processes, and training and supervising student stage managers. The Production Manager will also coordinate residency events and manage theater and dance rehearsal spaces and schedules.
