About the position

The Production Manager at J.M. Huber Corporation will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the production operations at the Quincy, IL facility. This position is crucial for ensuring that the plant meets internal customer requirements while supporting the business strategies, operating initiatives, and financial objectives of Huber Engineered Materials (HEM). The facility operates three processing circuits 24/7, with a yearly budget of approximately $10 million, and the Production Manager will be responsible for leading several plant production areas, including mills and shipping. In this role, the Production Manager will develop and manage production schedules to meet customer demands, ensuring timely delivery of products. Collaboration is key, as the manager will work cross-functionally with various departments such as Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Care, and Sales to align production goals with overall business objectives. The manager will also maintain production cycles to minimize changeovers and enhance efficiency, communicating schedules effectively to employees and customers to ensure alignment with goals and timelines. The Production Manager will be tasked with promptly notifying relevant parties about any schedule changes that may affect order timelines and adjusting schedules as needed based on demand changes and maintenance requirements. Coordination of equipment maintenance will be essential to minimize downtime, and the manager will align shift schedules with the Production Supervisor to meet production needs. Additionally, the implementation of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) system will be a critical responsibility for production improvement, alongside analyzing and enhancing Preventative and Predictive Maintenance effectiveness. Compliance with ISO, HAACP, cGMP, and regulatory standards is a must, and the Production Manager will foster positive relationships with regulators and customer auditors to ensure that production meets health, sanitation, and quality standards. Regular self-audits for compliance, participation in Change Controls and CAPA processes, and identifying opportunities for efficiency and ergonomic improvements will also be part of the role. The manager will apply LEAN manufacturing principles and utilize AVENA PI Vision for data visualization and reporting, supporting Engineering in process improvements and new system start-ups while monitoring raw feed levels to minimize inventory loss and scrap. Coordination of customer trial runs and assistance in resolving customer complaints will round out the responsibilities of this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related experience.
  • Experience in a production management role within the food or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, including building and analyzing reports.
  • Experience with AVENA PI Vision capabilities and uses.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO and GMP requirements.
  • Expertise in using OEE tools to improve production efficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Root Cause Analysis to prevent repeat occurrences.

  • Ability to and experience with managing and leading teams
  • MSHA required training will follow Quincy's Part 48 Training Plan including New Miner training and annual refresher. Prior MSHA training will be acceptable if proper documentation can be produced.
