We offer a welcoming and inclusive workplace, recognizing the unique skills and experiences that military families bring. The purpose of the Production Manager position is to facilitate aspects of the Hampton Coliseum and the American Theatre show load in through load out, working closely with show promoters and their production teams. This role operates under general supervision according to set procedures, but the incumbent will determine how or when to complete tasks effectively. The position may be assigned to either the Hampton Coliseum or the American Theatre, depending on the needs of the events scheduled. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of full-time equivalent experience working with venues and show production. A current State of Virginia Journeyman Electrician License is preferred, although a combination of education and experience may be considered. The role requires thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety and fire code precautions applicable to event production in an arena and/or performing arts theatre. Additionally, the candidate must successfully pass a background check and other tests related to the class. A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria are also required. The Production Manager must demonstrate knowledge of theatre fly system operation when assigned to the American Theatre. Effective communication with internal and external customers is essential, as is the ability to maintain harmonious working relationships while working independently. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments under time constraints are critical for success in this role. The incumbent will be required to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
