About the position

The Production Manager at Siemens Mobility Inc. is responsible for overseeing the Coach Carshell welding department in Sacramento, California. This role focuses on improving shop floor safety, product quality, and increasing production output while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and cost targets. The Production Manager will develop and execute manufacturing plans, manage departmental budgets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives through lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Coach Carshell welding department.
  • Improve shop floor safety, product quality, and increase production output.
  • Identify challenges and deficiencies related to manufacturability.
  • Develop manufacturing plans to achieve requirements of the master production schedule.
  • Execute plans while meeting safety, quality, and cost targets.
  • Develop annual department budgets and monitor performance against targets.
  • Collaborate with other production managers to drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and 6S principles.
  • Interface with project managers to provide progress updates on schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Communicate areas where additional support is required.
  • Track and manage production performance.
  • Identify constraints and develop and implement countermeasures.
  • Conduct bi-annual employee performance reviews.
  • Plan, monitor, and document the training and development of manufacturing employees.
  • Coordinate with support functions (quality, engineering, scheduling, procurement) to ensure alignment and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Weld Engineering, or related field.
  • 60 months of experience in the job offered or in a Production Manager-related occupation.
  • Experience in analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in supporting optimization of industrial resources through line balancing analysis.
  • Experience in performing capacity analysis of workstations and equipment.
  • Experience in performing 5'S methodology for shop floor organization and optimization.
  • Experience in optimizing time management through Value Stream Mapping.
  • Experience in evaluating non-conformances and conducting failure analysis on manufacturing processes.
