About the position

The Production Manager at Silver Bay Seafoods is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production at the Alaska seafood processing facilities. This role focuses on optimizing production efficiency, ensuring product quality, and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations. Key duties include managing production schedules, supervising production workers, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and implementing quality control measures to meet industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in preseason planning meetings to establish production goals and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement production schedules considering seasonal variations and customer demand.
  • Lead a team of production line supervisors and personnel, ensuring adherence to processing procedures and quality control measures.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production flow and minimize waste.
  • Oversee quality control procedures to ensure product safety and quality standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP, FDA, and USDA standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address quality deviations.
  • Oversee staff allocation across processing lines for efficient staffing levels.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to prioritize equipment repairs.
  • Review team performance, providing feedback and mentorship for continuous improvement.
  • Identify training needs and support the development of team skills.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present production reports to leadership.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in seafood or food manufacturing management.
  • Extensive experience in production, quality control, or management roles.
  • 35 years of seafood industry leadership experience required.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Prior production and food safety training and certifications preferred.
