About the position

The Production Manager at Cornerstone Building Brands is responsible for overseeing all production activities within the manufacturing facility located in Denver, CO. This role is pivotal in ensuring that production objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The Production Manager will plan, organize, and schedule production activities, ensuring that all operations align with the company's goals and standards. This includes managing staff activities, workload planning, inventory control, and distribution processes. The Production Manager will also proactively review practices to ensure quality workmanship and process flow, diagnosing potential areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to enhance productivity. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the Production Manager will ensure the timely delivery of products by preparing and distributing production schedules. Quality assurance is a critical aspect of this role, as the manager will establish and maintain product quality specifications, ensuring that all products meet the required standards. This includes working closely with vendors and suppliers to ensure that incoming raw materials comply with specifications and implementing quality control programs. Safety is a top priority, and the Production Manager will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment by addressing safety issues promptly and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and ISO 9000, where applicable. The manager will also administer safety training and monitor associate activities to ensure adherence to safety policies. Furthermore, the role involves implementing preventative maintenance programs to ensure effective equipment utilization and scheduling downtime for maintenance and repairs. The Production Manager will also be responsible for financial performance, preparing and administering departmental budgets, and ensuring that the production team meets or exceeds budgeted standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, as the manager will be responsible for developing group leaders and associates, communicating effectively across shifts, and fostering a collaborative work environment. The role may also involve managing hazardous waste programs and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Overall, the Production Manager plays a crucial role in driving operational excellence and contributing to the success of Cornerstone Building Brands.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct plant operations for facility.
  • Direct and manage staff activities, ensuring correct workload planning, receiving, maintenance, inventory controls, and distribution.
  • Proactively review practices for quality workmanship and process flow, diagnosing areas needing improvement and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure complete and timely product delivery by preparing and distributing production schedules.
  • Establish, maintain, and facilitate product quality specifications to ensure quality to standard.
  • Responsible for quality of all products and materials from designated areas, meeting production specifications and implementing QC programs.
  • Engage in technical responsibilities with vendors and suppliers, including interaction with Research and Development.
  • Prepare and distribute production reports to communicate results vs. standards.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by addressing safety issues and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and ISO 9000.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs for effective equipment utilization and safety measures.
  • Review data to seek process, people, and machine improvements and develop plans for desired results.
  • Ensure implementation and monitoring of all parts of the turnkey process, including pick, pack & ship, fulfillment, distribution, customer relations, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • Manage hazardous waste programs and ensure proper handling and inspection of waste.
  • Meet or exceed budgeted financial performance standards and prepare departmental budgets.
  • Maintain an organized work environment for safe and efficient operations.
  • Determine staffing levels for production and develop group leaders and associates.
  • Communicate with team leaders, group leaders, and associates on other shifts.
  • May serve as a facilitator on a designated Safety Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of production management experience, managing 50+ associates.
  • Strong maintenance background.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to forecast production requirements and organize workload into a schedule.
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing, customer service, and physical distribution processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in management, staff development, and training.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet objectives within time-sensitive deadlines with outstanding follow-through, time management, and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Financial analysis and forecasting experience preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish) and APICS certification are a plus.
  • Ability to adjust manpower and departmental spending to accommodate real-time sales and conditions.
  • Ability to effectively manage a multicultural workforce.
  • Proven record of implementing and utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Quality Management Systems.
