About the position

As a Production Manager for the 2nd Shift at Caterpillar Inc., you will oversee the production schedule and manage a team of technicians to ensure optimal performance within a designated value stream. Your role is crucial in meeting the company's goals related to People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost while adhering to safety and quality standards in a 24/7 operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the production schedule and overall performance of the designated value stream.
• Provide guidance and support to 2nd shift leaders and ensure effective training and development of staff.
• Monitor and improve safety on the shop floor, eliminating unsafe operations.
• Determine processing needs to assure fixtures, tooling, and methods are provided to meet production requirements.
• Coordinate with production management to designate workload, priorities, and sequence for work assigned.
• Determine overtime needs and manage resources effectively, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
• Implement corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in analytical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
• Proven ability in process improvement and maintaining focus on continuous improvement of processes and products.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations and ability to supervise daily operations to meet production targets.
• Expertise in manufacturing safety and ability to identify and mitigate work-related hazards.
