About the position

The Production Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the fast-paced growth of our manufacturing operations. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow alongside the company. The Production Manager will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities, enhancing workflow efficiencies, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. This role requires a hands-on approach, with a focus on team collaboration and effective communication across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a background in lean manufacturing practices such as A3, 5 Why, and Kaizen. In this position, the Production Manager will oversee all production activities on their respective shift, ensuring that performance and safety standards are met. They will be tasked with performing root cause analysis of production issues and implementing corrective actions with the support of the appropriate staff. Daily communication with production team members regarding performance, areas for improvement, and company updates will be essential. The Production Manager will also control and effectively utilize production capacity, manpower, and equipment to minimize losses and maximize efficiency. Additionally, the Production Manager will engage in continuous development and improvement of production operations through the analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs) and other performance data. They will work closely with supervisors, process engineers, and lead operators to adjust for changes in manufacturing conditions, ensuring that production schedules are met while minimizing costs related to downtime and labor/material variances. A commitment to providing a safe working environment by promoting and participating in company-sponsored safety programs is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities while enhancing workflow and efficiencies.
  • Assist in assigning team members to meet departmental goals and support production.
  • Perform root cause analysis of production issues and obtain corrective actions.
  • Provide daily communication with production members regarding performance and company updates.
  • Control and effectively utilize production capacity, manpower, and equipment through planning and scheduling.
  • Review and maintain production orders or schedules to determine efficient run patterns and maximize equipment utilization.
  • Oversee all production activities on the respective shift to ensure compliance with performance and safety standards.
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks in support of the larger organization and production goals.
  • Continuously develop and improve production operations through analysis of KPIs and performance data.
  • Provide information to supervisors and engineers to adjust for changes in manufacturing conditions.
  • Work with urgency to meet production schedules while minimizing costs related to downtime and variances.
  • Engage in providing a safe working environment by promoting safety programs.
  • Ensure all setups are designed and ready for production according to the schedule.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Associates degree (required) or bachelor's degree (preferred) in a related field.
  • Ten years equivalent management or supervisory experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong team-oriented professional with good interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of PC and programs, particularly Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly and effectively to all levels in the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred (A3, 5 Why, Kaizen, Lean, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with additional lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
