About the position

The Brewery Production Manager is a pivotal role within the brewery, responsible for overseeing the entire brewing process from planning to execution. This position requires a strong leader who can manage staff effectively, schedule beer production runs, and ensure that all necessary raw materials are available for production. The Production Manager will also be tasked with maintaining the brewery's equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently. Reporting directly to the President of the brewery, this role is crucial in achieving production, process, and quality goals that align with the brewery's overall business objectives. In this leadership position, the Production Manager will coordinate and oversee the production process, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance productivity. A strong technical understanding of the brewing process, from grain to glass, is essential, as is the ability to produce on both fully automatic and semi-automatic brewing systems. The Production Manager will also be responsible for training, supervising, and motivating production staff to meet performance goals, while implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste. Monitoring production output and resolving any issues that arise promptly is a key responsibility, as is maintaining accurate production records and reports for management review. The Production Manager will also be expected to contribute creatively to the production of new beers and to understand market demands for various types of beer.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the production process from raw material to finished product.
• Manage and optimize resources to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
• Ability to produce on both a fully automatic and semi-automatic Brew system.
• Train, supervise, and motivate production staff to achieve performance goals.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Monitor production output and resolve any issues that may arise promptly.
• Maintain production records and reports for management review.
• Provide creativity in producing new beers and understanding market demands.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a production brewery producing a minimum of 5,000 bbls per year strongly preferred.
• Formal professional brewing program education and/or certification strongly preferred (e.g., Siebel, MBAA, ABG, ASBC, etc.).
• Ability to understand hop markets and assist in the writing of contracts and purchasing of needed items.
• Ability to understand trends, usages, and sales to provide input on production schedule.
• Knowledge of fermentation theory/practice, biochemical/chemical changes in product from raw materials to finished product, bitterness, color, and alcohol percentage assays.
• Forklift operation experience is a plus.
• Experience working with high-speed filler, high-speed labeler, and other packaging line and canning equipment is ideal.
• Ability to continuously lift 55lbs or more, and move up to 165 lbs.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
