About the position

The Production Manager at Autobody Denton CARSTAR is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the workflow of vehicle repairs, ensuring that all tasks are completed within the expected target dates while adhering to CARSTAR's standards for productivity, profitability, and quality. This position requires a strong focus on safety and efficiency, as the Production Manager will assign repair work to technicians and manage the production process to meet daily and weekly repair goals. The role involves direct supervision of production employees, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in the repair process, and maintaining high standards of quality control throughout the repair cycle. In this position, the Production Manager will be tasked with achieving specific production and maintenance goals, utilizing the EDGE Performance system to track daily and weekly activities. The manager will provide clear direction to all production staff, ensuring that repair orders are processed according to established plans and making necessary adjustments throughout the day to maintain productivity levels. A critical aspect of the role is to ensure that all vehicles are properly disassembled for repair, with any additional damage reported to the general manager and estimators promptly. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining accurate repair order information within the CARSTAR management system, reflecting the current status of each vehicle. Regular communication with production employees is essential, as the Production Manager will conduct meetings to review goals and repair order statuses. The role also includes ensuring that all work areas are kept clean and orderly, with strict adherence to safety guidelines set forth by OSHA and EPA. Quality control is a significant responsibility, as the manager will inspect all vehicle repairs before customer delivery to ensure they meet CARSTAR's high standards. The Production Manager will also participate in daily release meetings to provide updates on production status and address any issues that may arise during the repair process.

Responsibilities

  • Assign repair work to technicians and manage the production workflow to complete vehicle repairs within expected target dates.
  • Ensure safety of repairs that achieve CARSTAR's productivity, profitability, and quality standards.
  • Manage production employees and drive continuous improvements in the production process.
  • Achieve production and maintenance goals of daily and weekly repair activities following EDGE Performance.
  • Provide direction to all production employees to ensure repair orders are processed according to each repair plan and adjust as needed throughout the day.
  • Maintain productivity levels to achieve a cycle time of 7.0 days (minimum).
  • Ensure all vehicles are disassembled for repair and report additional damage to the general manager and estimators.
  • Maintain all repair order information in the CARSTAR management system to reflect vehicle status.
  • Manage individual performance of all production employees and coach/train as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular meetings with production employees to review daily/monthly goals and repair order status during daily release meetings.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean and orderly and all employees follow safety/OSHA/EPA guidelines.
  • Inspect all vehicle repairs for quality control prior to customer delivery.
  • Attend and provide production status updates during daily release meetings.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe and responsible manner that does not expose yourself or other employees to unnecessary risk of injury.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of prior auto body collision repair experience.
  • Advanced understanding and knowledge of operations, and repair process/procedures.
  • Proven experience managing employees in a high performing manufacturing environment, collision industry preferred.
  • High School diploma/GED required, associate's degree preferred.
  • I-CAR certification, ASE training preferred.
  • Ability to be analytical, multi-task and problem solve.
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Proficient computer skills and prior estimating software experience required.
  • Ability to receive direction and work well with others.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.

  • Experience in a collision industry environment.
  • Additional certifications related to auto body repair.
