About the position

As the Production Manager at Koppert Biological Systems, you will be responsible for leading and optimizing production operations in Oxnard, California. This role is crucial for ensuring that production processes are efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the company's values. You will oversee a growing team, manage production expansion for new biological product lines, and ensure compliance with customer guidelines, USDA standards, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and manage a skilled production team.
  • Oversee capacity and production planning to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Direct and monitor all aspects of live product preparation, packaging, and shipping.
  • Champion problem-solving initiatives and use Lean principles to optimize production metrics.
  • Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Partner with other departments to support facility needs and coordinate activities.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed.
  • Plan and assist in training production employees on standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor inventory to align with forecast versus sales and manage waste reduction efforts.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, business, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production/manufacturing, with a focus on team leadership and production management.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to build and lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Thorough understanding of safety and health regulations, particularly OSHA standards.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, cost management, and continuous improvement techniques.
