About the position

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations process in a manufacturing plant, ensuring that all perishable products are produced and stored to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing a team of 60-80 employees, monitoring production metrics, developing standard operating procedures, conducting equipment inspections, and training staff. The Production Manager also collaborates with higher management to strategize for long-term growth and sustainability while managing the plant's budget and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day production operations to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of customer orders.
  • Drive continuous development of production, quality, cost, and delivery initiatives.
  • Engage, coach, motivate, and lead the Production, Maintenance, Janitorial, and Shipping Teams.
  • Monitor communication between multiple production lines to eliminate downtime.
  • Establish procedures, metrics, and processes to drive productivity and optimization.
  • Analyze and identify areas of improvement in cost savings, production, and lead times.
  • Develop and administer operational procedures for outgoing shipments and product handling.
  • Create and assist in strategic planning and forecasting to improve production issues.
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes and reduce waste.
  • Analyze P&L statements to make data-driven financial decisions and improve the bottom line.
  • Create a positive team dynamic that encourages feedback and drives change within the facility.
  • Maintain an effective department through continuous training, coaching, and motivation.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of management level experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with technology effectively.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Financial acumen and ability to analyze financial statements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in production planning.
  • Mentoring experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
