About the position

The Production Manager at GreenPower Motor Company is responsible for overseeing the production team and ensuring efficient operations in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a strong technical background in mechanical functions, critical thinking, and the ability to implement solutions to improve production processes while adhering to safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented self-starter with experience in automotive manufacturing and a focus on achieving productivity goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyze, and develop solutions to the production process.
  • Oversee duties to install, build, and maintain multiple components of vehicles.
  • Read and support content within all service manuals to perform required production functions.
  • Supervise regular preventative maintenance on equipment and plant facilities.
  • Collaboratively work with supporting members to the engineering team.
  • Document production progress and communicate with upper management.
  • Develop and maintain standardized manufacturing instructions used in production.
  • Develop training programs for production team to educate and improve processes.
  • Manage, motivate, support production team by providing guidance in production staff.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership regarding problems/issues impacting production.
  • Evaluate production resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
  • Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.
  • Set productivity goals for department and breakdown for individual teams.
  • Develop workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and efficient scheduling.
  • Comply with Safety regulation and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Meet requirements of the state and federal law for automobile repair and consumer protection.
  • Develop process improvements within production.
  • Manage tool cost.
  • Manage shop expendables cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of operations management and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Applications.
  • 3+ years of automotive/truck/bus manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical background on bus/RV/Truck.
  • EV knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge in hand and air tools, welding, overhead cranes, electrical LV and HV.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Must have current driver license and maintain.
  • Must have current passport.
