About the position

The Production Manager oversees Bradford's production processes at the West Warwick Rhode Island production site. They are responsible for the day-to-day production operations at the site and must have a continuous improvement mindset. The Production Manager works closely with various departments and team members to coordinate the planning and production, improve processes and systems and identify and prioritize resources to align with the Company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the entire production process, from planning to completion.
  • Ensuring production goals are met while maintaining quality standards.
  • Managing production schedules and resource allocation.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize processes.
  • Monitoring production costs and implementing cost-saving strategies.
  • Partner with EHSS to ensure all safety and health standards are followed.
  • Manage and direct department personnel in the overall operational activities; review performance, assign work, provide training and development, recommend staff and compensation changes.
  • Manage temporary labor workforce to ensure staffing levels consistent with the production plan.
  • Identify the staff levels and required to run baselines for all levels of production.
  • Manage number and types of jobs, equipment and supplies required to meet workload objectives.
  • Participate as needed in strategic and operational planning.
  • Work closely with the maintenance department to provide direction with regards to equipment, controls, repairs and modifications and prioritizing resources.
  • Ensure daily/weekly production plan is attained, review and work with commercial, planning and operations to adjust production plan when necessary.
  • Implement RFT (Right First Time) in all production areas to maintain quality and service standards within production environment.
  • Partner with Quality and Commercial to communicate production standards to staff.
  • Lead and drive continuous production training program.
  • Oversee and/or provide support for process improvement projects and new product trials.
  • Supervise and direct department personnel; assign work, review performance, provide training and development.
  • Own and drive accountability for performance to policy/procedure adherence at all levels through fair and consistent use of disciplinary process when/where appropriate.
  • Update and maintain all payroll related reporting documents as required.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, administer bargaining unit Labor Agreement in accordance with Company objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a manufacturing manager or similar role.
  • Advanced supervisory and management skills.
  • Capable of providing overall guidelines and setting broad objectives while providing on-going direct supervision when necessary.
  • Capable of functioning with little supervision and directed by broad guidelines.
  • Capable of exercising considerable judgment on highly complex tasks and decisions.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Understanding of quality standards and systems.
  • Analyzing production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Enforcing safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Providing regular updates on production status to senior management.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and quality control methodologies.
  • Ability to motivate and manage teams, delegate tasks, and resolve conflicts.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills to identify and address production issues.
  • Ability to develop and execute detailed production plans and schedules.
  • Effective communication with various stakeholders including production teams, management, and suppliers.
  • BS degree in Business Management, Engineering or relevant field.
