About the position

The Production Manager at CarMax is responsible for overseeing and leading associates to meet production targets while ensuring exceptional customer service. This role involves managing inventory levels and executing continuous improvement efforts. The manager will conduct both informal and formal observations of associates, communicate expectations, and provide constructive feedback. Additionally, the Production Manager will participate in the hiring and development of team members, maintain key performance measures, and assist in the development and execution of production plans. The position requires ensuring that proper inventory levels of materials and equipment are maintained, including personal protective equipment, tools, and chemicals. The manager will also provide support to sales, business office, and purchasing teams as needed. Compliance with risk management protocols is crucial, including adherence to loss prevention, facility maintenance, and environmental health and safety guidelines. Handling customer concerns efficiently and courteously is also a key responsibility. Other duties may be assigned by the Operations Manager as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer concerns in a quick, efficient, and friendly manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work through and manage a team to achieve production goals.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and transcribing data to maintain accurate records.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for dealing with customers and associates, both in person and over the phone.
  • Above average computer skills with a variety of common and proprietary software.
