About the position

The Production Manager at Menasha Packaging is responsible for implementing operational strategies that align with the company's objectives across various domains, including safety, productivity, quality, customer service, sales, human capital, cost, and profitability. This role involves managing, coaching, and developing the production supervisory team to ensure that the site meets its key performance metrics, such as machine and labor efficiencies. The Production Manager will provide guidance to departmental leaders to ensure that scorecard objectives are met, thereby supporting the overall operational goals of the facility. In collaboration with the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will manage capacity and participate in scheduling optimization efforts to meet both internal and external customer demands for on-time delivery. This includes supporting equipment feasibility studies, making recommendations for investments, and implementing capital expenditure projects while being accountable for meeting payback expectations. The role also requires collaboration with cross-functional leaders to set continuous improvement initiatives aimed at driving operational excellence. The Production Manager is accountable for executing the production schedule and facilitating the escalation process for service disruptions in delivery dates. This includes planning and allocating resources during scheduled asset downtime to support preventative maintenance programs. The role also involves quoting the purchase of new tooling, executing tooling repairs, and providing data and support for the Engineering Analysis (EA) and Reliability Engineering Analysis (REA) processes. As the Continuous Improvement (CI) Project Leader for the facility, the Production Manager will support the execution of the annual financial plan and monitor performance through forecasting and other company reports. This position provides guidance on staffing, training, employee relations, and performance management to develop and enhance both salaried and hourly production teams, working closely with direct reports. Additionally, the Production Manager will interact with key stakeholders to provide technical support, explore new business opportunities, and resolve order problems or complaints. Oversight of the operations team's performance, including training documentation, investigations, disciplinary actions, and consistent policy administration, is also a critical aspect of this role. The Production Manager will maintain industry, professional, and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and reviewing professional publications, while also performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience required.
  • Green Belt Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety and protection methods and regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of operational requirements and management of a manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with theft prevention and addressing threats to a manufacturing facility.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and logistics equipment used in manufacturing.
  • Understanding of technologies and applications used in manufacturing processes.
