About the position

The position at J.M. Huber Corporation involves providing leadership, direction, and guidance to ensure that the Production Department personnel function as a high-performing team within a strong ethical culture. The role encompasses overseeing the entire production line from crane operations to sanding, ensuring that customer demands are met efficiently. The individual will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment among Production Supervisors and coordinating with other departments to maximize operational efficiency and maintain quality, safety, and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and training to Production Supervisors to develop a common understanding of goals and expectations.
  • Directs, coordinates, and appraises the performance of Production Supervisors to maximize operations and resources.
  • Coordinates the work of the Production Department with Maintenance, Warehouse, and Purchasing to ensure efficient operation and prevent downtime.
  • Assists in developing annual and long-range plans, budgeting, and forecasting future business plans.
  • Implements and maintains Preventive Maintenance Programs in the Production Department.
  • Provides direction to Production Supervisors to ensure effective monitoring of plant equipment and problem resolution.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of all Plant processing equipment and its maintenance procedures.
  • Develops and trains plant personnel for efficient, productive, and safe job performance, preparing them for higher-level positions.
  • Works closely with Research and Development to implement pilot programs for new product development.
  • Performs general physical activities requiring considerable use of arms and legs.

Requirements

  • B.S in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Six or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to apply mechanical reasoning skills.
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Statistics, or SPC.
  • Knowledge of plant processing and equipment, with wood products experience being a plus.
  • Ability to use spreadsheets and word-processing software.
  • Familiarity with plant automation systems.
