About the position

As a Production Manager at GAF, you will oversee the manufacturing of residential asphalt shingles, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safe work practices. This role involves managing daily production operations, applying continuous improvement principles, and fostering a collaborative environment among production teams. You will be responsible for meeting production schedules, managing resources effectively, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily production operations to maximize efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure standards and expectations are communicated and met consistently.
  • Provide formal objectives and measurements for plant personnel.
  • Involved in machine troubleshooting, efficiency studies, and capital improvements.
  • Ensure production crews are well trained and committed to quality and safety requirements.
  • Assure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and employee safety.
  • Meet daily production schedules and requirements.
  • Collaborate with logistics and purchasing for inventory management.
  • Develop and track compliance to production department expense budgets.
  • Guide production supervision to balance production needs and machine reliability.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the production department.
  • Maintain good employee relations to prevent union organizing attempts.
  • Participate in the hiring process to staff motivated team members.
  • Effectively communicate the Bonus Plan to maximize employee participation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemical or Mechanical preferred.
  • Minimum four years of experience in manufacturing management with project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in process and quality improvements.
  • Experience in implementing strategy for production operations.
  • Experience in hiring, training, coaching employees, and performance management.
  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing operation, preferably continuous web process.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or G-Suite.
  • Familiarity with standard manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures.
