About the position

The Production Manager at Vantedge Medical will play a pivotal role in overseeing precision machining and secondary operations, ensuring compliance with ISO 13485 and CFR820 standards. This full-time, permanent position is integral to managing all production activities, focusing on cost management, schedule attainment, and fulfillment. The Production Manager will be responsible for leading a cross-functional team, fostering collaboration across departments to deliver world-class service and meet the manufacturing needs of top medical OEMs globally. The role emphasizes the importance of making a difference in the lives of patients and their families, driving the team to excel in their daily operations while maintaining a fun and engaging work environment. In this position, the Production Manager will be tasked with developing team members and staffing plans that align with business requirements. They will support the creation and deployment of manufacturing operations strategies, control systems, tools, and metrics to accurately measure progress and drive continuous improvement. Ensuring that quality and environmental health & safety (EH&S) standards are upheld in accordance with company policies is a critical aspect of this role. The Production Manager will also manage direct reports, focusing on effective relationship management, employee hiring, and training, while ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance overall performance. This includes a strong emphasis on leadership, decision-making, goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating team members. The Production Manager will utilize metrics to drive systemic change and will be expected to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, while also demonstrating strong presentation skills. High computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and PowerPoint, is essential, along with preferred experience in low volume, high mix precision machining and Swiss CNC operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate within a cross-functional team to manage daily manufacturing processes.
  • Support the creation and deployment of manufacturing operations strategy, control systems, tools, and metrics to measure progress and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Quality & EH&S standards are built and maintained in alignment with company policies.
  • Manage direct reports to maintain effective relationships and oversee employee hiring and training.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Execute improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing concepts and SMED Flow.
  • Experience in a machining environment with standard work and flow concepts.
  • Medical device experience is preferred.
  • Experience in regulated industries required.
  • Broad understanding of quality and production requirements with a demonstrated ability to continuously improve these processes.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop and empower teams.
  • Management skills including decision-making, goal setting, delegation, coaching, and motivating.
  • Experience using metrics to drive systemic change.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • High computer literacy and confidence/skill working within Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Project).

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred experience with low volume high mix precision machining Swiss CNC.
  • Preferred ISO 13485/CFR820 requirements.
