About the position

The Production Manager at Old Hickory Furniture is responsible for overseeing all aspects of production operations, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. This role requires strong leadership skills to manage and develop the production team while maintaining high-quality standards and a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will drive productivity and implement process improvements to optimize efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Daily Operations: Oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring that production schedules are met, and products meet quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop production staff, ensuring high performance, engagement, and accountability across the team.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas of improvement in processes and workflow, implementing best practices to optimize production efficiency.
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with the design and upper management team to maintain product quality standards and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Inventory & Supply Chain Management: Work with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure the availability of raw materials and manage inventory levels.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure a safe work environment by implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations.
  • Budget Management: Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving measures where applicable.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular production reports to senior management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in management demonstrating successful accomplishments
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Solid understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement techniques
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft, ERP or production management software
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in an industry

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite) is advantageous
  • Ability to work in a bilingual environment
