About the position

The Production Manager at ITW in Litchfield, IL, plays a crucial leadership role in overseeing and managing daily production activities to meet both customer and company requirements. This position is integral to the operational success of the facility, working closely with the Plant Manager and support teams to foster a culture of organizational excellence and employee development. The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring that production processes operate profitably while adhering to all legal, safety, and environmental regulations. This includes implementing safety compliance procedures, hazard elimination strategies, and accident prevention measures to maintain a safe working environment. In this role, the Production Manager leads the daily production activities, providing oversight to production team members and ensuring that the production process is efficient and effective. A key aspect of this position involves identifying and developing talent within the team to maximize individual and organizational effectiveness. This includes selecting and onboarding new talent, fostering a culture of engagement through effective communication, aligning team goals with the company vision, and providing coaching and feedback for performance management. The Production Manager is also tasked with producing reliable quality products that meet market demand while managing capacity requirements and efficiencies. This involves a continuous improvement mindset, focusing on enhancing methods and quality while reducing costs. The role requires maintaining pace management and establishing measurements to track improvements in safety, quality, cost, and product flow. Additionally, the Production Manager must ensure high levels of communication across all functions within the facility and promote a strong safety culture that complies with OSHA requirements. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Profitably operate the production process within all applicable legal, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Communicate and implement procedures regarding safety compliance, hazard elimination, and accident prevention.
  • Lead all aspects of the daily production activities with oversight of production team members.
  • Identify, support, and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals.
  • Produce market rate of demand reliable quality products and ensure balanced shift flow.
  • Manage capacity requirements and efficiencies with an emphasis on improving methods and quality while reducing costs and operating safely.
  • Ensure quality processes are consistently employed at the production cells.
  • Maintain pace management and establish measurements that track continuous improvements made in safety, quality, cost and product flow.
  • Perform duties in a self-directed team environment that encourages strategic change management and innovative thought processes.
  • Ensure high levels of communication between all functions at the facility.
  • Promote a safety culture and maintain company compliance/OSHA requirements.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, engineering, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years operations experience in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing environment with 3+ years direct leadership experience in an empowered team environment.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including collaboration, problem-solving, employee engagement/motivation, conflict resolution and delegation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management.
  • Previous ERP experience preferred.
