About the position

The Production Manager at Universal Music Group plays a crucial role in managing product planning and production for various artist and label clients. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire production process, ensuring that all aspects of product setup, milestone tracking, and catalog management are executed efficiently. The role emphasizes collaboration with internal teams and clients to maintain high standards and improve operational processes, all while fostering a positive team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and review raw metadata and assets delivered by clients prior to submission into supply chain systems.
  • Directly create and submit releases into VMG and UMG digital supply chain systems, ensuring compliance with metadata and asset standards.
  • Master the VMG and UMG style guides and their relation to delivery systems and DSP requirements.
  • Ensure submission lead time requirements are met according to project timelines.
  • Anticipate technical and operational issues and work with clients and teams to mitigate risks.
  • Communicate project status and key operational activities with the production team and stakeholders.
  • Develop processes that improve results, efficiency, and client relations.
  • Manage client and interdepartmental expectations regarding requests and system capabilities.
  • Advise on special exceptions for project impact and risk management.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and operations teams to address technical issues on critical projects.
  • Manage physical planning, production, and timelines with clients and internal teams.
  • Oversee delivery of physical release elements to manufacturing vendors.
  • Act as a stakeholder in system development and process improvement efforts.
  • Work closely with the catalog migration team on incoming artist catalogs.
  • Provide backup coverage for team members and contribute to special projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of experience in operations or a related field
  • Strong understanding of DSP metadata and supply chain operations
  • Experience in product planning and process improvement
