About the position

The Production Manager at Wastequip Manufacturing Co., LLC is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the production processes within the plant. This position requires collaboration with plant management and production staff to ensure that all customer and company requirements are met, particularly in the areas of safety, productivity, and quality. The Production Manager will be instrumental in creating a daily production schedule, measuring actual results against planned outcomes, and conducting timely and constructive performance evaluations for team members. The role also involves maintaining product quality guidelines as established by engineering and management, while motivating and mentoring employees to foster a supportive work environment. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Production Manager will establish both quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the machine shop. This includes reviewing and analyzing process flows, implementing inventory control metrics, and managing the disposition of drop material and scrap. The Production Manager will also be responsible for communicating new directives, policies, or procedures to the team and supervisors, ensuring that work environments are safe and conducive to productivity. The role requires a proactive approach to improving customer service and satisfaction through quality and timely delivery of products. The Production Manager will lead the coordination of efforts among various departments, including production control, purchasing, engineering, technology, and customer service, to create smoother workflows and more cost-effective business processes. This position is not only about managing production but also about projecting a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the hiring and training of team members within the machine shop and kitting department.
  • Creates daily schedule for production and measures actual results vs. plan.
  • Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations.
  • Maintains product quality guidelines as set by engineering and management.
  • Motivates and mentors employees, providing support and guidance.
  • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics for evaluating machine shop efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates process flows within the machine shop and coordinating functional areas.
  • Implements and maintains inventory control metrics and cycle count tracking.
  • Implements policies and procedures to improve day-to-day production.
  • Owns the production schedule, coordinating efforts between engineering and purchasing, and communicating with sales.
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.
  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to team and supervisors.
  • Monitors production and resolves issues as they arise, reporting metrics weekly to management team.
  • Improves customer service and satisfaction through quality and on-time delivery.
  • Leads coordination and integration of efforts among production control, purchasing, engineering, technology, and customer service.
  • Sets direction and produces plans to meet Division goals.
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, machine shop background preferred.
  • Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in metal fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
  • Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365, or similar ERP is a plus.
