About the position

Vertiv in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Production Manager to lead the manufacturing activities within the plant. The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safety of plant personnel while achieving quality production, meeting productivity numbers, and adhering to cost targets. The Production Manager will be responsible for maintaining on-time production in accordance with established company standards and practices. This position requires a proactive approach to managing production lines, ensuring that quality systems are in place to guarantee product integrity, and fostering a high-performance culture among team members. The Production Manager will plan and achieve safety, quality, customer delivery, and cost targets. This includes implementing and maintaining visual KPI reporting to drive team performance, evaluating personnel requirements based on business and employee needs, and recommending necessary equipment, tooling, and processes to support business objectives. The role also involves evaluating training requirements, conducting departmental meetings, and ensuring that applicable tier meetings are held regularly. The Production Manager will report any equipment that is not in safe operating condition and ensure it is removed from use, while also maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in the production area. Training and instructing employees in their assigned jobs, familiarizing them with company and departmental policies, and establishing skill development plans for direct reports are key responsibilities. The Production Manager will also be involved in planning and scheduling production activities, supervising the production process, and ensuring effective management of production lines. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including suppliers and managers, to prevent delays and ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities

  • Plan and achieve safety, quality, customer delivery and cost targets.
  • Implement and maintain visual KPI reporting to drive high performance teams.
  • Evaluate personnel requirements based on business and employee needs.
  • Recommend equipment, tooling, and processes to support business objectives.
  • Evaluate training requirements and request necessary training.
  • Conduct departmental meetings and ensure applicable tier meetings are conducted regularly.
  • Report any equipment that is not in safe operating condition and remove it from use.
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping.
  • Train and instruct employees in the performance of their work, assigned jobs, and familiarize employees concerning company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Establish skill development plans for direct reports to foster an environment of career improvement and talent development.
  • Plan and schedule production activities and supervise the production process.
  • Ensure the effective management of production lines of an organization.
  • Ensure quality systems are in place and utilized to guarantee the integrity of products.
  • Ensure accurate costing for responsible work centers and seek improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor the production practices and set the schedules as required.
  • Work out the material and human resources as needed.
  • Work with managers effectively to execute the policies and goals of the organization.
  • Liaise with different departments such as suppliers, managers and so on to prevent any probable delay.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years' management experience.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • MS Office and ERP systems experience.
  • Ability to develop and coach a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of ISO and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma.
  • 10 years' experience in production management, scheduling and assembly processes preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent preferred.
