The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the production staff and ensuring optimal performance within the manufacturing environment. This role involves providing development and direction to team members by clearly communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results. The Production Manager will coach and counsel associates, as well as initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures to maintain a high standard of production quality and efficiency. In this position, the Production Manager will monitor the production schedule and ensure that shifts are adequately staffed by planning workforce requirements, selecting, orienting, and training new associates. Setting daily, weekly, and monthly objectives is crucial, and these objectives must be effectively communicated to employees. The role requires strict adherence to procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), production methods, controls, and sanitation protocols. The Production Manager will supervise production at every step to ensure safety, quality, and productivity. Identifying issues and resolving problems is essential to maintain minimum costs and maximize efficiency. The role also involves offering improvements to methods, procedures, policies, and quality standards. Implementing cost-saving strategies and techniques is a key responsibility, along with compiling and analyzing production performance records and data. Proper documentation and document controls must be created and organized, and reports on performance and progress will need to be submitted regularly. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment is paramount, and the Production Manager will enforce strict safety guidelines and company quality standards. Monitoring food safety activities, including sanitation, is also a critical aspect of this role. The Production Manager will ensure that manufacturing operations are consistent with the food safety plan and participate in non-conformity resolution and investigation, implementing corrective action plans as necessary. Additionally, the role may involve participation in testing and product development related tasks, along with other duties as assigned.
