About the position

The Production Manager oversees all aspects of operations for a high-volume snack food manufacturing facility, managing production activities across three shifts in a 24/7 environment. This role focuses on ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe production processes while leading a team of supervisors and production staff to meet production goals and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of multiple snack food production lines, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Coordinate production schedules to meet customer demand while minimizing downtime and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Ensure production targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and budget objectives are met or exceeded.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 12 supervisors and approximately 200 hourly employees, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Implement a focus of accountability and performance results ownership.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and development of production staff to enhance skills and support career growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement disciplinary measures as needed.
  • Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement strategies to optimize production processes.
  • Analyze production data and trends, identifying opportunities for improvements in quality, cost, safety, schedule attainment, and throughput.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety, conducting regular safety audits and training programs.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure all products meet or exceed customer and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Demand Planning team to ensure raw and packaging materials are available to meet production needs.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage production budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure all equipment is properly maintained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a production management role, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, safety regulations, and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate large teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
