About the position

The Production Manager will manage and coordinate all aspects of operations for the assigned department, ensuring that safety, quality, cost, service, and employee relation needs are met. This role requires providing leadership, motivation, and guidance to Production Supervisors and Leads. The Production Manager will be actively involved on the floor to organize and manage daily operational requirements, consistently meeting customer expectations. This includes overseeing the implementation of employee development programs to ensure that the company’s needs are met regarding employee knowledge, training, and development. In this position, the Production Manager will directly supervise production supervisors and monitor lead and hourly employees. They will advise direct reports on the proper handling of disciplinary actions, performance assessments, and overall communication with hourly associates. Setting expectations, tracking results, and managing accountability are key responsibilities. The Production Manager will also monitor staffing needs to ensure that company objectives are met and will work to maintain a positive environment that allows for maximum employee involvement through department meetings, an open-door policy, team activities, and empowerment initiatives. Additionally, the Production Manager will act as a champion for company-wide safety programs and initiatives, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed and that a culture of safety is promoted within the team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of supervisory experience with a significant level of responsibility with operations and personnel or commensurate experience gained from on-the-job training.
  • Food Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.
  • Personal computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work within timelines and in pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
