About the position

The Production Operations Server Administration position is a critical role within a prestigious financial company, specifically designed for the 2nd shift, which runs from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. This position is bonus eligible, reflecting the company's commitment to rewarding performance and dedication. The primary responsibility of the Production Server Operations Administrator is to provide first-level support for incidents, ensuring that any disruptions across various platforms, including Mainframe, UNIX, Windows, and Network systems, are addressed promptly and effectively. The role requires a high degree of decision-making and minimal supervision, making it essential for candidates to possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. In addition to incident management, the Production Operations Server Administrator will assist the Operations Manager in maintaining adequate staff coverage and will take on managerial duties in the manager's absence. This includes ensuring that critical processing requirements are met by escalating and tracking incidents in a consistent and timely manner, thereby upholding the company's quality standards. The administrator will also be responsible for monitoring multiple applications and systems, responding to alerts, and documenting any processing anomalies using approved software. Maintaining processing records and logs is another key aspect of this role, as is the need to rerun or restart failed backups and perform restores when necessary. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities, as well as adherence to all production operations policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be expected to work scheduled overtime as needed to ensure 24/7 coverage, demonstrating a commitment to the operational integrity of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Employ first-level Incident identification and resolution techniques to address interruptions across Mainframe, UNIX, Windows, and Network platforms.
  • Monitor multiple applications and systems using approved software.
  • Monitor and respond to applications/systems alerts across all platforms in accordance with Quality Standards and/or Security Policies.
  • Report and document any processing anomalies utilizing approved software.
  • Maintain processing records and logs.
  • Escalate Production Incidents to Second-Level support as required per policy to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Perform Mainframe IPL's, and other system commands if and when necessary.
  • Support transmissions across SFTP/NDM.
  • Support the execution and troubleshooting of UC4 jobs.
  • Provide support for Production Installs, D/R and Industry tests.
  • Maintain all off-site storage records and shipments.
  • Rerun/Restart failed backups and perform restores when required.
  • Work scheduled overtime when needed to ensure 24 x 7 coverage.
  • Adhere to all Production Operations policies and procedures.
  • Assist Management in updating and maintaining current procedures.
  • Focus on identifying and executing on Continuous Improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of OS390 JCL and IBM utilities experience.
  • 5+ years working in a multi-platform environment.
  • 5+ years working knowledge of an open systems scheduling product (UC4).
  • 5+ years working knowledge of Mobius/Brio.
  • Network troubleshooting skills.
  • UNIX knowledge.
  • Experience with UC4 Scheduler.
  • Familiarity with Mobius via Document Direct.
  • Knowledge of zOS/390 JCL and IBM utilities.
  • Proficiency in transmission protocols: SFTP/NDM.
  • Experience with operating systems: Unix, Windows, zOS/390.
  • Strong desktop skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • DevOps experience desired but not required.
  • College degree in Computer Information Systems desired, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
