About the position

The Production Operator in the Drill department at TTM Technologies is responsible for operating drill equipment and ensuring the production of quality products efficiently. This role involves setting up and operating various machinery, monitoring product quality, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the production process. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and participation in safety training, as well as effective communication with supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Read and accurately understand the shop traveler, job order, instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Set up and operate different types of machinery according to the department processes and each job's requirements.
  • Monitor and produce product quality.
  • Operate multiple machines as allowed by product mixture.
  • Measure using micrometers and calipers, determining what kind of drill to use.
  • Load programs into machines.
  • Check first pieces with an x-ray.
  • Troubleshoot any problems that may occur during the process and consult the Supervisor.
  • Facilitate and attend meetings, communicate regularly with managers and supervisors, and suggest procedural changes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and communicate safety hazards to the supervisor.
  • Generate, accumulate, and handle hazardous wastes generated in daily operations as directed by the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.
  • Report all accidents, near misses, and safety concerns, and perform job duties utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate fully in safety training and understand directions identified in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE Assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and all Safety Procedures and Alerts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English written instructions, including manufacturing work orders, customer specifications, blueprints, and shop control documents.
  • Quality-centered mindset with strong attention to detail, mathematical, and technical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as a positive team member.
  • Manual dexterity essential for the Machine Operator job.
  • General computer skills and ability to update electronic records and enter data into systems.
  • Ability to sit or stand throughout a shift and independently push, pull, or lift 10-40 pounds.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English to perform the job effectively.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including weekends as necessary.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with machinery, moving parts, noise, and chemicals.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in other departments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Blueprint reading experience is a plus.
