About the position

As a Process Panel Operator at Abbott's Columbus plant, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing of liquid adult, pediatric, and medical nutritional products. This position is part of Abbott's Nutrition team, which is dedicated to developing science-based nutrition products that cater to individuals of all ages. The Columbus facility is Abbott's oldest nutrition manufacturing plant, fostering a family-like atmosphere among its 400 employees. You will be working the Weekend Night Shift, which includes Thursday nights from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, and Sunday from 6:00 PM to 2:30 AM. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality and safety systems within the manufacturing process. Your duties will include the physical handling of raw ingredients during weighing, staging, and manufacturing processes, as well as operating various equipment such as scales, portable pumps, and homogenizers. You will also be involved in cleaning processes, including hand cleaning, clean-in-place (CIP) systems, and routine housekeeping tasks. Interaction with computer systems integrated into the manufacturing process is essential, as you will document manufacturing steps in accordance with work orders and job procedures. Additionally, you will prepare, operate, monitor, and document bulk slurries for blending operations and heat treatment processes. You will be accountable for meeting compliance standards set by the FDA, OSHA, and Abbott's internal policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality and safety system.
  • Manufacture liquid adult, pediatric, and medical nutritional products.
  • Lift and physically handle raw ingredients during weighing, staging, and manufacturing processes.
  • Operate scales, portable pumps, container rinsers, and homogenizers.
  • Perform hand cleaning, clean-in-place (CIP), and heat treatment systems.
  • Document manufacturing steps in accordance with work orders and job procedures.
  • Prepare, operate, monitor, and document bulk slurries for blending operations and heat treatment processes.
  • Receive and unload bulk raw ingredients and CIP chemicals.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to continuously lift up to 50lbs throughout the shift.
  • Knowledge of food processing techniques and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to read and follow work order documents.
  • Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and operate powered industrial vehicles.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and solid problem-solving skills.
