About the position

The Production Operator role at Magna Exteriors involves performing repetitive assembly operations to produce automotive products while adhering to quality standards and timelines. Under the guidance of the Production Supervisor or Team Leader, the operator will rotate through various production areas, ensuring that production requirements are met in terms of quality and timing. This position requires a commitment to safety, as operators must observe safe work practices and comply with all safety policies and procedures. Additionally, the operator is responsible for reporting any assembly problems to the appropriate supervisory personnel and ensuring a clean and safe working environment by performing daily maintenance tasks. Operators will engage in detailed assembly operations, utilizing hand tools and following work instructions in accordance with TS16949 and ISO standards. They are expected to review quality alerts before starting their shifts and comply with all quality policies and procedures. The role also involves initiating actions to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality, as well as identifying and recording any issues that arise. Furthermore, operators must report any machine or equipment malfunctions and are responsible for the safe handling and maintenance of all company equipment and tools. In addition to the primary responsibilities, operators may be assigned other reasonable tasks by the team leader or management. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates who have two years of relevant work experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills, be self-motivated, and work well in a team environment. Knowledge of hand tools is also essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repetitive assembly operations to produce automotive products within the allotted time and quality standards.
  • Rotate through production areas as requested, ensuring assigned production requirements are met specific to quality and timing.
  • Inform team leader, production supervisor, or production manager of assembly problems.
  • Report to work on time for pre-shift meetings.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as written or communicated in the employee handbook.
  • Perform detailed assembly operations to mass-produce automotive products.
  • Perform fitting or fastening operations using tools assigned to each station following work instructions in accordance with TS16949 and ISO standards.
  • Review all quality alerts prior to the beginning of the shift.
  • Perform all duties as outlined in the MES.
  • Comply with all quality policies and procedures.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to product, process, and quality.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to team leader, production supervisor, or production manager.
  • Responsible for the safe handling and maintenance of all company equipment, facility, and tools.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance of the plant to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy workplace.
  • Perform any other reasonable assignments given by the team leader and/or management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • 2 years relevant work experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to perform assembly duties with minimal supervision.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of ergonomics and pedestrian safety.
  • Familiarity with hazardous communication and personal protective equipment.
  • Training in lockout/tagout procedures and emergency evacuation protocols.
