About the position

The Production Planner at GSM Metals, Inc. plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations within the mill department. This position is responsible for maintaining critical reports, coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels, and ensuring accurate documentation. The role requires collaboration with team members across departments, adherence to safety and compliance standards, and proactive involvement in continuous improvement initiatives. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the physical ability to perform tasks that require standing, sitting, walking, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain various reports and logs, including open order reports and distribute them to relevant employees.
• Generate production travelers upon receipt of acknowledgments and route them for verification and sign-off.
• Monitor stock levels for wire and strip materials to ensure availability for production.
• Oversee all aspects of Hypertherm operations during production.
• Collaborate with the Materials Manager to plan and manage the melt schedule.
• Read and follow job specifications and related work instructions accurately.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Report any safety concerns or incidents to supervisors immediately.
• Work closely with team members to ensure efficient production processes or resolve issues.
• Identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and create simple instructions and correspondence in English.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
