About the position

The Production/Process Engineer at Syensqo in Orange, Texas, is responsible for ensuring safety and adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards while optimizing production processes. This role involves troubleshooting operational issues, improving product yields, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability. The engineer will also participate in quality initiatives and provide technical training to employees, contributing to a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Syensqo safety and IH procedures are being implemented
  • Responsible for the application and adherence of HSE and PSM standards and guidelines
  • Participate in JHA, HAZOPS, and incident investigation
  • Assist with plant quality initiatives
  • Provide production engineering assistance to troubleshoot operational problems, minimize unit interruptions and maximize asset utilization
  • Identify ways to increase product yields and reduce variable costs
  • Monitor and track process interruptions; implement necessary changes to eliminate or reduce future process upsets
  • Track OEE and other Manufacturing Excellence KPIs; drive improvement where needed
  • Work closely with the maintenance and reliability groups to resolve issues affecting equipment reliability and operability
  • Provide day-to-day operational assistance to the units as needed
  • Design and implement small projects
  • Utilize process models to evaluate cost reduction opportunities
  • Recommend, design, conduct and evaluate process testing for the purpose of quantifying unit performance for cost reduction
  • Execute and/or follow up studies and projects in the domain of process Operations Department Organization - HALAR®
  • Provide technical training for employees
  • Prepare and maintain records in accordance with ISO 9001 and quality related plant safety certification requirements
  • Develop written documentation about the production processes, facility and keep them up-to-date
  • Perform auxiliary duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Lean/six sigma green belts/TPM
  • 5+ years of relevant process engineering experience
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication with all levels of organization
  • Effective teamwork in cross-functional situations
