About the position

The Production Program Manager I position at Marotta Controls is a pivotal role that involves overseeing various aspects of project management within the aerospace and defense sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) costs, ensuring design-to-cost and schedule performance for assigned projects, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. This role requires a strong understanding of project management principles, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and customers. In this position, the Production Program Manager will create and release project Work Breakdown Schedules and maintain an Integrated Master Schedule. They will facilitate Integrated Product Development (IPD) team meetings, document minutes, and maintain action item lists. The manager will also review and create labor and material plans, control project scope, and prepare monthly Program Review materials. A key responsibility will be to resolve and coordinate project cost, schedule, and technical performance issues, escalating any unresolved issues to higher management levels. The role also involves identifying opportunities for business growth and supporting significant proposals with related Program Management Office (PMO) inputs. The Production Program Manager is expected to achieve project NRE expenditures within 10% of the Budget at Completion (BAC) and ensure on-time delivery of major milestones within two weeks of the baseline. The position emphasizes ethical standards and proactive risk management, aiming for the highest level of customer satisfaction. The work environment is a blend of professional office and manufacturing settings, requiring the use of standard office equipment and adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities

  • Manage NRE cost, design-to-cost, and schedule performance for assigned projects.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction for assigned projects.
  • Create and release project Work Breakdown Schedule.
  • Maintain project Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Facilitate all IPD Team meetings, documenting minutes and maintaining Action Item Lists.
  • Review and create labor and material plans and cost reports.
  • Control project scope effectively.
  • Create monthly Program Review materials for assigned projects.
  • Resolve and coordinate project cost, schedule, and technical performance issues.
  • Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the project team level.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business content with associated project customers.
  • Identify new or synergistic business opportunities in associated market segments.
  • Support significant proposals with related PMO inputs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering, science, or business discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in aerospace and/or military mechanical and/or electrical component and/or systems engineering design, development, and manufacturing.
  • Understanding of basic PM principles, such as those promoted by the Project Management Institute.
  • Exemplary verbal/written communication skills for interactions with all levels of personnel and external agents.
  • Highly computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise and demonstrated experience with applicable systems.
