About the position

Mrs. Clark's Foods, a leader in condiment, sauce, and juice production, is searching for an experienced Production Quality Manager to join our team. Located in Ankeny, just 15 minutes outside the Iowa state capital of Des Moines, we pride ourselves on our family-oriented culture within an independently owned, mid-size company that employs over 100 team members across three shifts. The ideal candidate will be someone who is committed to long-term growth and development within the organization, leveraging their skills to enhance our production quality management processes. As the Production Quality Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining our food safety and quality programs in coordination with the production team. Your responsibilities will include training, managing, and developing Quality Technicians, providing them with guidance and feedback on various quality standards. You will assist in food safety and quality trend analysis, generating and reviewing data reports with team members to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis. Additionally, you will monitor the facility's calibration program requirements, ensuring accurate tracking and record-keeping. Your role will also involve monitoring the production floor to uphold high-quality standards and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for at least 30% of your day. You will provide guidance to facility personnel on food safety and quality issues, ensuring that both material and finished product standards are maintained. Identifying and accurately reporting defective materials, food safety hazards, and potential product contaminants will be essential, as will effectively communicating any food safety and quality-related concerns with the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Train, manage, and develop the Quality Technicians by providing guidance and feedback on various Quality standards.
  • Assist with food safety and quality trend analysis, generating and reviewing data reports with team members to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis.
  • Monitor facility calibration program requirements, tracking, and record keeping.
  • Monitor plant production floor for high quality standards and attention to Good Manufacturing Practices for at least 30% of the day.
  • Provide guidance for facility personnel on food safety and quality issues to maintain material and finished product standards.
  • Identify and accurately report defective materials, food safety hazards, and potential product contaminants.
  • Communicate food safety and quality related concerns effectively with the Quality Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Food Science, Biology, other Science degree) or relevant experience required.
  • Exceptional people skills and experience working with personnel in a variety of disciplines.
  • Leadership experience in managing or supervising personnel required.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing principles and operations regarding food safety and quality required.
  • Knowledge of HAACP, GMP, SQF, and other essential food safety programs required.
  • Ability to clearly define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
