The Production Scheduling / Purchasing Manager is a critical role within Morgan Truck Body, responsible for overseeing and managing the production scheduling and purchasing of all materials, tools, and parts required for operations. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that both production and non-production related materials and parts are readily available to eliminate any potential production delays. The manager will maintain cost reviews and act accordingly when issues arise, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the purchasing and scheduling teams to ensure adherence to business targets. In this role, the manager will oversee maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) purchasing and ensure that budgets are met for their respective areas, including MRO, inventoried stock, and substitutions. The manager will also be responsible for managing the procurement of both direct and indirect materials to support a manufacturing plan via a Master Production Schedule (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. It is essential that the functional department adheres to ISO guidelines, corporate policies, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations. The Production Scheduling / Purchasing Manager will work to maximize on-time delivery, productivity, inventory turns, and gross profit. This includes collaborating with individuals at all levels of the company to plan, set, and support a Sales and Operations production plan. The manager will aggressively ensure that both direct and indirect materials are available to eliminate production delays, which involves planning, storage, and control of raw materials, MRO, capital expenditures, and customer-supplied items, utilizing lean and Just-In-Time (JIT) philosophies. Additionally, the manager will ensure proactive maintenance of production schedule data and dates to provide accurate information to customers. Collaboration with Commodities Managers to manage Low Cost Country (LCC) forecasts and purchase order maintenance is also a key responsibility. The manager will provide top suppliers with short-term MRP-driven forecasts and oversee buyers' adherence to the utilization of preferred suppliers, driving process improvements regarding system parameters within the Purchasing MRP. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
